During this one day PD event we will work with the Missouri Writing Project to investigate strategies which address the new science expectations in regards to science and technical literacy. The MLS science expectations adopted in April of 2016 include several practices calling on skills related to science and technical literacy (e.g. asking questions and defining problems; constructing explanations and designing solutions; engaging in argument from evidence; obtaining, evaluating and communicating information). We will also look at the role of Cross-cutting Concept and Science and Engineering Practices as they pertain to formative assessments.
